Exploring and learning about the human body and how the different parts and systems collaborate can have an interesting effect on our presence, perception and the way we dance. Getting inspired by information and images of what is already there can unlock movement, open spaces inside us, connect us to the forces and spaces outside us and influence the way we think about ourselves. How many bones do you have in your feet, how many layers of muscles are hidden under the trapezius, how many ankle joints do you have. We start with some free explorations and body work by ourselves with a partner or the whole group, then we move on to some guided strengthening and stretching exercises. The class will gradually build towards a short energetic movement phrase that moves through all levels of space and plays with speed, flow and the forces that move us. The class is an open space for your own exploration, physical reflection and an opportunity for giving and taking care of yourself and each other.
I am looking forward to spend a week dancing with you.
The classes are held in Studio 3, Dansehallerne, Franciska Clausens Plads 27 DK-1799 Copenhagen V.
Dansehallerne has an elevator with step-free access to all floors. Accessible and gender-neutral toilets and wardrobes are available on the ground floor.
We kindly ask you to arrive 15 minutes prior to class in time for check-in with the QR code on your ticket.
All members can participate in Dansehallerne’s training activities – a year-round program with approximately 5 days of training per week and now also workshops every other week. This is for all professional members regardless of background in dance training, and it is also possible to participate in a drop-in class.
International guests can participate in training for free for up to 1 month. If you have comments or good tips for the training program, you can always send an email to the curators; trainingcurator@dansehallerne.dk
Nina Wollny (Germany/ Surinam) is a dance artist based in Trondheim, Norway. She studied modern and contemporary dance at the Rotterdam Dance Academy, now Codarts, in the Netherlands. After her graduation in 2002 she joined the company anoukvandijk dc and has worked there as dancer, rehearsal director and artistic assistant for more than 10 years. In Norway she works with Mia Habib Productions, BodyCartographyProject and others. Nina started teaching when she was 15 as a way to deepen her own understanding of dance. In 2004 she started her journey as a Countertechnique teacher and explored and shared the work until 2021. Now she is following her own interests in sharing movement and dance and how it relates to the form and function of the human body, through a process that is not looking for a solution or a universal answer, but rather allowing questions to resonate in our movement and bodies as we dance together.
