Marie Kaae
House Dance

The week will be centered around the Afro/American genre House Dance and will include fundamental vocabulary in the genre, as well as Marie’s personal variations and signature style of movement.

The content will include drilling steps across the floor, more challenging step-combinations and short routines to put the new information into play.

Approaches to the floor & transitioning levels will be the central theme in Wednesday’s class.

Overall, the focus of the classes will be a balancing act between the subject of respecting a young tradition & its technicality while engaging in the art of expressing freely (freestyle/improvisation).

House is a rhythmical genre, and the footwork coordination will help sharpen the participants’ bodily intelligence on a practical level. Floorwork ensures conditioning for the whole body, while being reminded that joy is a valid and important artistic endeavor through exchanging with each other in close union with the music.

Participants are encouraged to be ready and warmed up before class starts.

The classes are held at Dansehallerne, Franciska Clausens Plads 27 DK-1799 Copenhagen V.

Dansehallerne has an elevator with step-free access to all floors. Accessible and gender-neutral toilets and wardrobes are available on the ground floor.

We kindly ask you to arrive 15 minutes prior to class in time for check-in with the QR code on your ticket.

All members can participate in Dansehallerne’s training activities – a year-round program with approximately 5 days of training per week and now also workshops every other week. This is for all professional members regardless of background in dance training, and it is also possible to participate in a drop-in class.

International guests can participate in training for free for up to 1 month. If you have comments or good tips for the training program, you can always send an email to the curators; trainingcurator@dansehallerne.dk
