New and practical info: Please bring a yoga mat and a blanket if you can – we will make ourselves comfortable on the floor during this session.
Behind this title lies the question of how precarious working conditions in the artistic field can embrace a sustainable, passionate and restorative practice. What keeps us going within fragmented employment and everyday experiences of uncertainty and competition? And, how do we balance passion and being on the edge of what we can manage with tasks such as: Writing funding applications, reports, doing research, meetings, reading, emails, being ill, being a parent, paying bills, having endless string of projects, and so forth? How do we manage that often the work behind the actual art piece costs us money? What would be fair practice and sustainable working conditions?
We invite you to join a sharing and conversation between the three artist and mums Marie Kaae, Sophia Mage and Dorte Bjerre Jensen. They will share their personal stories of how they manage (or not) the precarious situation of being an artist, teacher and parent. We will also include a few brilliant thoughts from Bojana Kunst, Cecilie Ullerup, and from the publication “WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON?: Ideas for reaching fair working conditions in the arts.” And we also wish to open up for a conversation with everybody in the room…dare, share and care.
Peer to Peer is a series of artist-driven conversations focusing on professional sharings about dance, choreography, and its impact. You will meet colleagues in a facilitated yet casual space. Peer to Peer is about getting closer to your community and being curious about what is happening in the field – and with each other.
The invited artists will set the different topics and facilitate the conversations. The specific program for each event will be announced during the season.
We start by meeting for half an hour of informal chat and something to drink. Then we continue with the facilitated part by the invited guest(s) of the day. After the event, it is possible to hang out and continue the conversations.
This season, Peer to Peer takes place at Huset-KBH (Balsalen), Rådmandsstræde 13, 1466 Copenhagen K, 1st floor beside Spisehuset
The topic and format are chosen by the invited artist in collaboration with Dansehallerne. How you choose to participate in the conversations is up to you.
We meet approximately twice a month, and the event is in English. You do not need to sign up – just show up.
