In collaboration with Tofu Collective, Dansehallerne presents Jas Lin (LA):
MORNING as in awakening– to our senses, our agency, our infinite possibility
EXORCISE as in ritual and practice– for purging the body of internalized scripts and socialized expectations
Through guided movement meditations, embodiment tasks, and phrase work, we exorcise choreographies of the learned body, shedding ingrained patterns to make space for new ways of moving and existing in service of our embodied freedom. Each day, we will work with a new theme through a combination of warmup, lecture, improvisation, interactive prompts, and choreography– experimenting with multiplicity and contradiction, dancing with the world as our body. Participants are invited to release any expectation that there is a “proper” way to move or be, and instead follow feeling, sensation, and instinct. Together, we will co-create a sanctuary for experimentation, mutual presence, and collective transformation. Bring a journal!
What are some ways that surveillance lives in your body (both internal and external)?
