In this 3-day workshop, choreographer and composer Karis Zidore (she/her) will share various body and voice practices from her most recent choreographic work: the solo Slit Show, which premièred at Dansehallerne in October 2024.
In the workshop, we will dive into the core concept of Slit Show, which is the act of revealing and unmasking, departing from the materials at play in the piece: moaning, stripping and opera song. With a mix of guided improvisations and voice practices, the workshop will move between charged images and affective states. Expect a mix of heartfelt bodily sensations, deconstructed dances and bad acting.
The workshop will mainly consist of experiencing and doing, but reflection and conversation will be an integral part of the three days as a way of placing, expanding and contextualizing the charged materials at play. No prior voice training is needed. Bring a notebook.
The classes are held at Dansehallerne, Franciska Clausens Plads 27 DK-1799 Copenhagen V in Studio 3.
Getting there
Studio 3 is located on the ground floor with step-free access from the main entrance.
Continue straight on towards the changing rooms next to the foyer. Studio 3 is located at the bottom right corner.
Dansehallerne has an elevator with step-free access to all floors. Accessible and gender-neutral toilets and wardrobes are available on the ground floor.
We kindly ask you to arrive 15 minutes prior to class in time for check-in with the QR code on your ticket.
All members can participate in Dansehallerne’s training activities – a year-round program with approximately 5 days of training per week and lately also workshops every other week. This applies to all professional members regardless of background in dance training. It is also possible to attend drop-in classes, and international guests can participate in training for free for up to 1 month.
