We’ll be listening to our own voices, the voices of others and the place we’re in.
We will be doing somatic warm-ups, for the body and voice, getting into the diaphragm, vocal folds and breath, tuning into textural and visceral types of voices.
It can be whatever voices – the small cries, wet, dry and high-pitched “screams”, melodies, low rumbles, breathy tones and signals.
Each day I’ll share one voice/body practice from past works, many made in collaboration with choreographer Lisen Pousette, as well as slip in a few scores from other sound/voice artists, and we’ll evolve this together as a group.
The practices are in different ways exploring streches of intensities, moods and modes of listening – entering forces within the body and the voice – seeking transformation.
This is for anyone interested in extended voice/body practices. No prior training needed.
The classes are held in Dansehallerne, Franciska Clausens Plads 27 DK-1799 Copenhagen V.
Dansehallerne has an elevator with step-free access to all floors. Accessible and gender-neutral toilets and wardrobes are available on the ground floor.
We kindly ask you to arrive 15 minutes prior to class in time for check-in with the QR code on your ticket.
All members can participate in Dansehallerne’s training activities – a year-round program with approximately 5 days of training per week and now also workshops every other week. This is for all professional members regardless of background in dance training, and it is also possible to participate in a drop-in class.
International guests can participate in training for free for up to 1 month. If you have comments or good tips for the training program, you can always send an email to the curators; trainingcurator@dansehallerne.dk
Olivia Rivière (SE) has been working choreographically with extended vocal techniques since 2017, mostly as a duo with choreographer Lisen Pousette. Her practice explores the embodiment and materiality of sound, seeking to create resonant and affective spaces where alternative forms of relation can exist.
This exploration has spun out in a series of choreographic works presented nationally and internationally, like Ever Losing (2019), DUNKEL (2022), Shriller (2022), Spiritus (2024), The Ringing (2025), and I Hear Bells (2026–).
Olivia is based in Copenhagen and collectively runs the space DANSEatelier. She holds an MA in Choreography from the Exerce program at Centre Chorégraphique National, Montpellier.
