Experience three poetic dance films by Inuk artist, dancer, choreographer and filmmaker Maliina Jensen from Nuuk, Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland).

Featuring vertical dance on Greenland’s glaciers and across Arctic landscapes, the films offer a sensory exploration of the beauty and fragility of nature.

The films will be screened on a continuous loop throughout the festival in Studio 2 at Dansehallerne.

Maliina Jensen (b. 1990) is an Inuk artist from Nuuk, Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland), whose work explores vertical dance, site-specific performance, and dance film in remote landscapes. A teacher and board member at Nunatta Qiteqatigiittarfiat (NuQi Dance Centre), she is committed to promoting dance training and dance experiences for people of all ages.

At OPENINGS, she presents Tunu, Apusiaajik, and Re-forming Glaciers—three dance films that place the human body within Greenland’s vast landscapes to present their scale, beauty, and fragility. Filmed at Point 660 on the Greenland Ice Sheet, in Ilulissat, Kulusuk, and on Apusiaajik Island, the works combine dance, image-making, and environmental storytelling to create both an aesthetic and visceral experience of glaciers and remote Arctic environments. The films invite audiences to experience Kalaallit Nunaat through the scale of the human body, offering an intimate perspective on its remote landscapes, glaciers, and a changing climate. All rigging was completed using only natural protection, leaving the sites as they were found.
