In connection to the performance, RUSH by Mette Ingvartsen, dancer Manon Santkin facilitates a workshop Thursday September 5th at 12 – 14 in studio 3:
What does it mean to work with your imagination as a dancer?
Maybe it is less about invention than it is about becoming sensitive, listening and responding. Over the course of our 3h workshop, we will explore a series of heterogeneous movement practices, ranging from manipulating someone’s body, interacting with objects to using language to describe and accompany our actions. We will take a journey departing from a very pragmatic approach to materiality (of a body, of our direct environment, of objects we interact with …) and bridging over into situations where fiction comes into play. We will be warming up our perception(s) by interacting with reality until fiction emerges out of it.
It will be an occasion to get acquainted with the notion of “affordance”, amongst other things. I often work with open tasks, following specific guidelines and a framework where the participants figure out and follow their own curiosity.
Come as you are, preferably with an explorative mindset.
