Still / Dancing / Body is a dance performance created by Taneli Törmä for Birgitte Skands.
A dance is never just a dance. There is always more behind everything if we dare to dig deeper. We cannot separate the dance, the choreography, the performer, and her background from what is happening in the world at the moment.
Still / Dancing / Body performance is, in that sense, a statement about why many dance artists have no choice but to create art and speak their full voices. It returns to the sacred body—our living archive where we store all our emotions and thoughts, which are the essential foundation of the ethics of being. With a philo-physical approach, the artists strive to delve deeply into lived experience, with the ambition to encapsulate Birgitte Skands’ 60 years of life and dancing. Still / Dancing / Body performance brings lived experience, life itself, the in-between, philosophical thoughts, stillness, memories, and bodily experiences into a choreographic space.
