Mark Philip
Floorwork and Contemporary Dance

Morning classes with Mark Philip is one of those hard-to-define, impossible-to-encapsulate experiences, that’s difficult to describe in a one-liner with a specific genre or technique.

Drawing on his practice from the capoeira training in his adolescence and experience as an avid breaker in his young adulthood, Mark has established a distinct style that fuses the acrobatics and dynamism of floorwork and power moves with contemporary dance.

You can expect to be in contact with the floor and in dialogue with your muscles; for your core to be the connection between the upper and lower body, that will often find itself in twisted and reversed positions. By seeing the world upside down, your perception will undoubtedly shift.

We’ll be breaking down Mark’s characteristic moves piece by piece (in many ways), and working on pairing the sensationalism of acrobatics with the sensibleness of contemporary dance – always with a focus on your personal body language and artistic expression.

The classes are held at Dansehallerne, Franciska Clausens Plads 27 DK-1799 Copenhagen V in Studio 3.
