Tanin Torabi
Screening and Artist Talk

Award-winning Iranian director and choreographer Tanin Torabi, renowned for her single-take dance films, will present three dance films reflecting her ongoing exploration of the body, the camera, and human relationships within socially engaged contexts in Tehran, Iran. In a country where dance is forbidden and the presence of a camera is itself problematic, Tanin poses the following questions: Where does dance begin? What is a forbidden camera? And how do we, as individuals and artists, position ourselves within such a society?

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the artist and a Q&A session.

Short films:

  • The Dérive (2017) – 8′
  • In Plain Sight (2021) – 11′
  • Until (2023) – 14′

This event is arranged in collaboration with DDSKS Further Education, The National Film School of Denmark and was made possible through an initiative by Maia Elisabeth Sørensen, dance film artist and curator.
