Zander Porter
3M0T1NG

Zander Porter invites participants from across spectra of movement, (dis)association, and (dis)embodiment to explore emoting exercises, cyborg mirroring, and replicant (dis)identification together. Through guided psychosomatic micro-ceremonies, the group can expect to explore and question definitions/realities of “feeling” (or emoting) and seeing in relation to each other and each other’s devices, virtually and corporeally. This intimate workshop aims to construct and experience an “identity blip matrix,” complicating how neurotypical relations and expressions move in space-body-time.

This workshop has been designed alongside and as an afterlife of the larger choreographic production 3M0T1NG{/n3tw0rk1ng}, presented in Prague (Divadlo X10), Berlin (Uferstudios), and Amsterdam (DAS Theater), supported by IDlab (Amsterdam), Fonds Darstellende Künste (Berlin), National Institute for Space Research (São José dos Campos), the Saison Foundation (Tokyo), and Joint Adventures (Munich). The workshop has been presented previously in Amsterdam, Seoul, Tokyo, London, Hamburg, and most recently Vienna (at ImPulsTanz).

For this iteration of the workshop, Zander will be assisted by current SNDO (Amsterdam University of the Arts) student Yooha Cheon.

Zander Porter is an artist and choreographer-cyborg based primarily in Berlin with additional frequencies in Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Tokyo. Working between liveness and onlineness, ze interpolates (dis)identification and (dis)embodiment as phenomenological inquiries between surface, soma, portal, and psyche. Zander has been a core member of XenoEntities Network (XEN) and holds an MA in Choreography from DAS Graduate School (Amsterdam). Yooha Cheon, Zander’s research assistant, is a multidisciplinary artist/performance maker, exploring movement, identity, and digital culture. Originally from South Korea, they are currently pursuing a BA at the School for New Dance Development (Amsterdam).
