Flow
Feeling
Fear
Freedom

This class is a flamenco ‘taster’ but a distinctive kind. We’re investigating the basic elements of flamenco with a focus on the relation between feelings and movement.
We’ll work with different techniques helping the individual dancer to develop their rhythmic abilities in correlation with improvisation and emotional expression.
Together we’ll create a space in which melancholy, anger and joy can co-exist. It’s a class for dancers who are interested in embarking on a journey inwards, and who are curious about polyrhythms, bodily sound, and ancestral movement.

We invite you to participate the whole week but you are also welcome to drop-in. The class will be taught barefoot.

We encourage you to continue looking after yourself & each other and arrive to practice with a valid corona pass.

The Low Flow

These classes take place 8-12th of November 09.30-11.00AM.

The Low Flow is a series of classes where we move together towards a state of physical and mental availability and readiness. The classes are built on three ground pillars – the simultaneous waking up of the whole being – a playful section working with strengthening, lengthening and coordinating the full body – the research of the floor as a power engine. The classes are colored by the Feldenkrais method, as Antoinette is currently educating herself to become a Feldenkrais practitioner.

The class is built up in three parts:

1. The shaking
A guided shaking practice to raise the body temperature and enhance the blood flow. This results in an increased flow of synovial fluid which allows the joints to move freely. Also the fascia gets a activated and enhanced in its blood supply, which gently leads towards a more open and pliable body. The repetitive and persisting movements invite to let go of thought activity – allowing the participants to settle and to arrive to the present.

2. The Lengthening/Strengthening
A sequence of simple and well known movements (borrowed from for example yoga practice) that are alternately lengthening and strengthening the full body and playfully invite to explore more unusual ways of coordinating. The first round is performed very slow and controlled. The second round is a dynamic version. This practice enhances the energy flow and will leave the body in a state of readiness.

3. Feldenkrais into floor work
The last part of the class is built on a short Feldenkrais inspired practice. Using the Feldenkrais method to become aware of details, habits and use of energy this section works with fixed movement material. Using simple and well known movements to enable the participants to dive into their bodies and to give space for own research/investigations. Most of them are rather functional, a few have a more decorative nature. Some are built around the pure fun of movement, others work consequently with certain movement concepts (for example spirals). They all have in common that they either are happening on the floor or that they are going in and out of the floor.

We encourage you to continue looking after yourself & each other and arrive at practice with a valid coronapass.

Dance Dancing

These classes take place 09.30-11.00AM.

The class is a mixtape of dances and scores that has accumulated and followed Emilie throughout the later years of spending time with dancing and dance. Throughout the class we’ll spiral through a selection of somatic practices, uptempo diagonals, performative scores, and swingy dance phrases.

We’ll attend to nuances within the dance among us. Stimulating our sensing abilities to navigate through different tonalities, imagery and performativities when dancing. Softly attending and working the threshold between imagery and kinaesthetic sensation.

Bring indoor shoes (the class can also be done without, but some exercises might be more comfortable with shoes).

We encourage you to continue looking after yourself & each other and arrive at practice with a valid corona pass.

Gendered movement

Gendered movement runs through all layers of society. From how we sit and walk to how we enter a room and how we have been taught at our different dance educations depending on what gender we have been read as.

Queer and transpolitical aesthetics challenge these movement norms and asks questions around their naturality, by examining them, use them in a mix, exaggerate them or by letting them decay completely.
During the week we will go through different methods to discover, unlearn, and relearn gendered movement which we actively and passively have worn through life as performing folk. The classes will challenge the norms we work in as gendered people and wishes to create a safer space with room for searching and playing, but also for reflection and for stopping up.

We encourage you to continue looking after yourself & each other and arrive to practice with a valid corona pass.

Connecting Mind and Body

These classes take place 09.30-11.00AM.

The class’s frame builds upon improvisation.
Through guided improvisation, we will wake up our bodies from the inside out. We will open up our imagination and welcome different images and sensations to create sensitivity and energy for our bodies to move. Hopefully, we can let go and allow new creativity to flow and find our bodies in new curiosity and surprise ourselves.

We encourage you to continue looking after yourself & each other and arrive at practice with a valid corona pass.

Origins

These classes take place 09:30-11:00AM.

Origins approached through somatic and improvisational exploration, contemporary dance technique, and investigations on liminal states of (dis)orientation. The class aims to move from the support of the inner and outer landscapes of origin – nature. Classes are accompanied by Sanna Blennow, who will shower the space with vibrational hymns. Through ritualistic and meditative soundscapes, we will move from our organs, bones, and cellular consciousness and from interconnected ph(r)ases of moon, darkness, and breath.

The class is a melting pot into Sarah Lee Armstrong’s choreographic practice and honors the knowledge of practitioners such as; Gill Clarke (Experiential Anatomy), Debrah Hay (on cellular wisdom), Adrienne Maree Brown (activism, self-care, and somatics), and the lineage of nordic witches.

We encourage you to continue looking after yourself & each other and arrive at practice with a valid coronapass.
