Noora Hannula

THE YOUTUBER – A performance where dance theater goes YouTube horror! The team desperately needs your help, because their experiments with Youtubing have gone terribly wrong. Meet the dancers live on stage where a true horror mystery unravels!

A group of awesome dancers meets on stage. They look suspicious and scared – because what happened in the weeks leading up to the premiere? They were vlogging about the making of this new dance performance, in the middle of the Finnish forest, when their experiments with Youtubing took a dark turn: one of the dancers went missing and the game with reality turned into a true horror mystery.
Now the absurdities continue on stage as they, along with their audience, trace their steps back to unravel the mystery and find out what really happened.

Follow the epic vlog before the performance and see what went wrong on their way. The vlog is active September-November.

The spoken language is English at the vlog and in the performance.

With Dansehallerne as co-producer, the Finnish choreographer and dancer Noora Hannula has created an absurd and gripping online and live dance performance, THE YOUTUBER, which plays with the perceived reality on social media and explores what it takes to live the dream of being a Youtuber – performed with the extreme corporeality and humor that characterize Hannula’s works

Noora Hannula (FI) is a prize-winning dancer and choreographer and the artistic director of The Nordic Beasts dance theater. Since 2016 Hannula has focused on themes reflecting on the digital age, online self, digital partners, and constructed intimacy. She has also worked with Kristján Ingimarsson Company, Mute Comp. Physical Theater and Uppercut Dance Theater. In 2021 she received an honorary prize from the Wilhelm Hansen Foundation for her artistic work. She holds a BA in modern dance from the Amsterdam School of Arts. The Nordic Beasts aims to be a dance company that keeps on exploring new ways for making dance theater and creating visually multilayered productions while tackling modern-day topics in an innovative way. A Nordic Beasts production can be characterized by an eye-catching visual style, physically merciless choreography and themes reflecting on the digital age, often served with a hint of absurdity.
