From 2018 to 2022 Dansehallerne is the Danish partner in the EU project Centriphery, which is subsidized by the Creative Europe Programme for the development and launch of artistic activities between artists and citizens throughout the nine participating countries.

The project involves nine European organizations: 18 international artists from different disciplines and local artists and citizens from nine different local regions, all working closely together to create activities, dialogues, and performances that are based on citizens’ stories and local myths.

During the project period, nine different projects will take place. Read more about the project here.

In Denmark, Dansehallerne has carried out the project in the district of Sydhavn in close collaboration with Sydhavn Teater, the project’s artists, and local citizens in residencies in autumn 2019, spring 2020, and autumn 2020. On 21 November 2020, the project culminated (subject to Corona restrictions) with a variation of activities for and with citizens. If you want to read more about the activities and watch the videos from the project, take a look at Summende Sydhavn.

As part of the activities in the EU project, Dansehallerne will take the lead on an international conference on May 20, 2022, THE ART OF DETOUR(S). We dive into how art projects are framed, transformed, and entangled in local contexts, and we discuss how the detour in theory and practice can open up new forms of resistance, communities, and inclusion.
