Margrét Sara Guðjónsdóttir
FULL DROP

Exploration of altered states of perception

These workshops are an introduction to the sensation and state-oriented practice Full Drop. A practice which Icelandic choreographer Margrét Sara Guðjónsdóttir has been developing since 2010 in connection to and alongside her performance works. It focuses on deep fascial release through visual meditation and verbal dialoging aimed at guiding participants towards a so-called Full Drop into the body, or a fully surrendered and released body state. The aim is to develop heightened inner listening and awareness of the multiple autonomous systems and rhythms of the body and figure out how to be guided and moved by them and experience the various altered physical states that accommodate this type of listening.

Bring blankets and warm clothes and socks. The entire practice is conducted laying down. It is comprised of a bone visualisation into a deep meditation state, lasting around 1,5 hours and followed by a writing practice, and finally sharing a part of your experience with the group, according to protocol.
You can join one, two or the full three workshop days.

The workshop is held in Studio 4, Dansehallerne, Franciska Clausens Plads 27 DK-1799 Copenhagen V.

Dansehallerne has an elevator with step-free access to all floors. Accessible and gender-neutral toilets and wardrobes are available on the ground floor.

We kindly ask you to arrive 15 minutes prior to class in time for check-in with the QR code on your ticket.

All members can participate in Dansehallerne’s training activities – a year-round program with approximately 5 days of training per week and now also workshops every other week. This is for all professional members regardless of background in dance training, and it is also possible to participate in a drop-in class.

International guests can participate in training for free for up to 1 month. If you have comments or good tips for the training program, you can always send an email to the curators; trainingcurator@dansehallerne.dk

In Margrét Sara’s view, working with and sharing a practice of de-conditioning, in itself directly healing and holistic, is a conscious political gesture. It was developed whilst creating a body of artistic works that addresses the mental, emotional and physical states of the citizens living within the current social political environment, and how that reality expresses itself in our matter. It combines 24 years of working within the artistic field of dance and choreography and 15 years of studying connective tissue through artistic research and professional education. She is currently a certified manual therapist of the Fascia therapy DB method.
