How does language shape perception, shape bodies, shape dance? During a weekend in October, Andreas Haglund and Stina Ehn will share materials from the project Skimmed Words. The project consists of different somatic and vocal practices that explore how the acts of naming simultaneously defines and opens up to speculative perception. In the workshop the two artists will share practices from the process and use them to practice performance and composition.

Skimmed Words started in 2020 and is a collaborative project between Antonia Harke, Andreas Haglund, Stina Ehn and formerly Denise Lim. It has been mentored by Cara Tomlie and Kai Merke and in residency at HAUT and Dance Cooperative in Copenhagen, and höjden and MDT in Stockholm.

Bios

Andreas Haglund works as a dance artist and choreographer between Sweden and Denmark. They are a member of the artist-driven studio Dance Cooperative, a platform for 12 freelancing dance artists. In his own work he focuses on the somatic, material and aesthetic coherences between queer lived experience and the cultural conception of nature. On stage, in dance practice and in text.

Stina Ehn is a dance artist based in Stockholm, working internationally as a dancer, choreographer and organiser. With an interest in the relations between image and materiality, her work experiments with how dance and language inform one another, often working in close collaboration with other artists. Her choreographic work has been presented at venues and festivals such as Weld in Stockholm, Dance Nucleus in Singapore, HAUT and Dance Cooperative in Copenhagen, Revolve Performance Art Days and Köttinspektionen in Uppsala, DanseRom Bergen and Kiezkapelle Berlin. Stina holds a BFA in Dance and Choreography from the Danish National School of Performing Arts. Since 2020 she’s a member of the artist-driven house höjde in Stockholm where she’s part of arranging the performance event Kafé Mix.
