Gendered movement

Gendered movement runs through all layers of society. From how we sit and walk to how we enter a room and how we have been taught at our different dance educations depending on what gender we have been read as.

Queer and transpolitical aesthetics challenge these movement norms and asks questions around their naturality, by examining them, use them in a mix, exaggerate them or by letting them decay completely.
During the week we will go through different methods to discover, unlearn, and relearn gendered movement which we actively and passively have worn through life as performing folk. The classes will challenge the norms we work in as gendered people and wishes to create a safer space with room for searching and playing, but also for reflection and for stopping up.

Beck Heiberg, is a choreographer and performer with his work anchored between Paris, New York and Copenhagen. He has since the beginning of his career worked with questions around gender, gender performance and gender norms and these questions have been both an explicit and implicit background for his choreographic work. He is examining queer and transpolitical aesthetic in movement, working methods and themes and use his technical dance background to explore concepts within performance.
