Andreas Haglund
Instantly Composed Magic

Come and warm up the day with me! In this class I wish to return to one of my darling practices: instant composition. This free-form improvisational structure is the cradle of so much performative magic, and I miss practicing and witnessing it.

The class will be structured into three parts. Firstly, a physical warm-up based on my daily practice, melding dance material with breathing exercises and rhythm work. Secondly, we will cross the floor with a variety of dance materials that is bound to touch upon technical elements of movement and getting your pulse up. Finally, we will work with instant composition through different elements and logics of improvisation. Through gazing, audience interaction, attention strategies, musicality, force and co-operation we will unpack some of the building blocks of choreography through dancing.

Through these rather simple frames we will work on everything from movement dynamics to performative agendas. It will be exploratory, exciting and sweaty. I’m looking forward to dancing with you!

The classes are held at Dansehallerne, Franciska Clausens Plads 27 DK-1799 Copenhagen V.

Dansehallerne has an elevator with step-free access to all floors. Accessible and gender-neutral toilets and wardrobes are available on the ground floor.

We kindly ask you to arrive 15 minutes prior to class in time for check-in with the QR code on your ticket.

All members can participate in Dansehallerne’s training activities – a year-round program with approximately 5 days of training per week and now also workshops every other week. This is for all professional members regardless of background in dance training, and it is also possible to participate in a drop-in class.

International guests can participate in training for free for up to 1 month. If you have comments or good tips for the training program, you can always send an email to the curators; trainingcurator@dansehallerne.dk
