Paul Pui Wo Lee
Feldenkrais® for Dancers

According to Paul Pui Wo Lee, art does not need to come at the expense of one’s health and well-being. Learning to dance is not exactly the same thing as learning to use yourself in the healthiest, most efficient, and powerful way possible. We carry habitual patterns of limitation that escape the radar of our awareness that not only prevent us from our highest technical and expressive potential, but they also wear us down and make us more susceptible to strain and injuries. There are so many ways for us to coordinate ourselves into smooth movement and action, and the more we understand the many ways to “use ourselves better”, the more choice we have. And doesn’t that sound like artistic dignity?

Paul wants to take you through these Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement® classes because I want to give you tools that help you take care of your bodies and experience a tremendous deepening of your technique and expressive nuance. One can have a perfect body but find many ways to get injured and move poorly, and so with Feldenkrais, we’re really looking at being smart in improving the quality of how we use ourselves. You will adopt another perspective to your personal abilities – another intelligence of feeling – to be more able to find solutions to the challenges you encounter in your path of dance.

These lessons can be done any time you want: before class/rehearsals, during the day, at the end of your day, before bed. If you can’t make the live lessons, as a Dansehallerne member, you will have access to the recordings!

Things we will cover:
how to distribute the effort of an action through more joints to lessen the load on one particular part of the body, which means that you can allow more of you to participate in movements to experience more power and ease
how to use your pelvis in multiple directions to support the freedom of the neck and head and also give you a greater range of ways to find grounding
how the ankles relate to the neck, the suppleness of your spine can release your hips, how the ribs can support the movements of the shoulders and neck, how the mobility of your neck helps you find stability in your feet, how we can clarify the movements of your shoulder blades and ribs in very simple ways, etc.

As a member, you can take part in Dansehallerne’s training activities – a year-round program with approximately 5 days of training per week. This is a series of 20 online Feldenkrais classes (Feldenkrais training, followed by a Q&A)

This is for all professional members no matter background in dance training, and we recommend joining all days✨

For those unable to get a professional membership at Dansehallerne, Paul is offering this same course at €200 to other dancers and participants from all over the globe to use Feldenkrais as a tool for injury prevention and artistic furthering. He will donate 50% of his profits back to Dansehallerne in hopes to be able to fund double training options (Contemporary + Street and Club) during some weeks within the January-June 2023 period.

Many thanks!
