Liv Mikaela Sanz
Effortless movement in a set framework

Participants can expect a mix of dynamic floorwork with upside downs, handstands, falling, catching that proceeds to standing sequences.

A natural combination of floor and standing will occur as a result of encouraging effortless moving and flow by using weight, and aligning and directing the body in space.

By using sensory images/memories in the body, Liv focuses on breaking down and reaching a good, solid anatomical understanding both in floorwork and standing, so participants can leave with an effective awareness of functionality and economization of energy, knowing what initiates the movement, getting out into all corners of the body and where to direct it. This leads to fluidity and effortless movement, while also playing with dynamics, colours and the artistry of movement.

To prepare for floorwork we warm up the body and mind on the floor from neutral/zero point using guided floor impro. We go through all directions of the back and hips, all in a moving context/phrases using yoga/Pilates principles/awareness to achieve natural opening, placement and strengthening. The emphasis is always on fluidity, flow and quality of movement.

We then dive into floorwork.

The floorwork connects to standing sequences to create a bridge between floor and standing. In order to prepare for leg/standing work.
In standing, the focus is on what is needed to open hips, transfer weight, deep positions, elevate leg, using spirals, reaching out, expanding and opening the body.

By the end of the period Liv will combine phrases we play with through the week into a longer set structure, so participants can enjoy freedom by re-visiting the phrases.
In this set structure we play with endurance, spatial awareness, changing directions and interaction with co – participants to challenge the brain, have continuity and ending in a state of flow.

This class is accompanied by musician Gert Pedersen.

Bring the joy and pleasure of movement and nerdiness into the class.

Only as a member, you can take part in Dansehallerne’s training activities – a year-round program with approximately 5 days of training per week. International guests can also join training for free for up to 1 month.
