The Low Flow

These classes take place 8-12th of November 09.30-11.00AM.

The Low Flow is a series of classes where we move together towards a state of physical and mental availability and readiness. The classes are built on three ground pillars – the simultaneous waking up of the whole being – a playful section working with strengthening, lengthening and coordinating the full body – the research of the floor as a power engine. The classes are colored by the Feldenkrais method, as Antoinette is currently educating herself to become a Feldenkrais practitioner.

The class is built up in three parts:

1. The shaking
A guided shaking practice to raise the body temperature and enhance the blood flow. This results in an increased flow of synovial fluid which allows the joints to move freely. Also the fascia gets a activated and enhanced in its blood supply, which gently leads towards a more open and pliable body. The repetitive and persisting movements invite to let go of thought activity – allowing the participants to settle and to arrive to the present.

2. The Lengthening/Strengthening
A sequence of simple and well known movements (borrowed from for example yoga practice) that are alternately lengthening and strengthening the full body and playfully invite to explore more unusual ways of coordinating. The first round is performed very slow and controlled. The second round is a dynamic version. This practice enhances the energy flow and will leave the body in a state of readiness.

3. Feldenkrais into floor work
The last part of the class is built on a short Feldenkrais inspired practice. Using the Feldenkrais method to become aware of details, habits and use of energy this section works with fixed movement material. Using simple and well known movements to enable the participants to dive into their bodies and to give space for own research/investigations. Most of them are rather functional, a few have a more decorative nature. Some are built around the pure fun of movement, others work consequently with certain movement concepts (for example spirals). They all have in common that they either are happening on the floor or that they are going in and out of the floor.

We encourage you to continue looking after yourself & each other and arrive at practice with a valid coronapass.
