Dansehallerne is temporary without a permanent house, and as such, without a stage of our own. But that time is soon over. In April 2022, the plans for the future of Dansehallerne were determined: Kedelhuset, with the four distinctive towering chimneys, will be our future home. Therefore, we can once again in the nearest future have a hub for dance and choreography in the heart of the Carlsberg City District for the benefit of Copenhageners and the rest of Denmark. Read more about the realization here.

The beautiful industrial building Kedelhuset with its central location in Copenhagen is about to be transformed into Denmark’s national meeting point for dance and choreography. The 4,600 square meters listed building will be added lots of life and new function in the service of dance, all while preserving the building’s atmosphere and soul. Here, a framework is created where professionals can train, unfold and showcase dance, while amateurs, associations, and audiences can meet and get inspired by the professional dance environment.
It is a broad collaboration between the City of Copenhagen, The Building Fund Kedelhuset, The Development Company Carlsberg City District P/S, and the foundations The Augustinus Foundation, The A.P. Moller Foundation, The Danish Foundation for Culture and Sports Facilities, The Aage and Johanne Louis-Hansen’s Foundation and the philanthropic association Realdania, which has made it possible for Dansehallerne’s new house to become a reality.
While the rebuilding of Kedelhuset takes place, Dansehallerne’s administrative office will be located at H. C. Andersens Boulevard. Our many activities will take place in many different venues around the city – at theaters, in art spaces, in urban areas, and at alternative locations. Audiences may experience our shows, choreographic performances and installations, events, talks, seminars, and other activities at for example Copenhagen Contemporary, Betty Nansen Teatret, Den Frie Udstillingsbygning, Den Grå Hal, and Dansekapellet. In other parts of the country, we will show our performances at schools, in daycare centers, and at local performance venues.
