Dansehallerne is Northern Europe’s largest centre for modern dance.
Copenhagen residents and international dancers and choreographers work together in the setting of Carlsberg’s old mineral water bottling factory - on stages, in rehearsal spaces and in offices.
It is a place where those still developing their career are able to work alongside the branch’s top professionals, while the general public can enjoy Danish and international dance in Dansehallerne’s performance spaces of Store Carl and Lille Carl (Large Carl and Small Carl), and the curious can find answers for all dance-related questions in the Dance Information Centre.
Unique in its field, Dansehallerne combines all the different aspects of modern dance in the Greater Copenhagen area:
Dansescenen - the leading performance space for modern dance in Denmark.
Danish Dance Theatre – Modern dance’s flagship company, which under Tim Rushton’s leadership and choreography has created dance works of an international standard.
Dansens Hus – offers a service for professional dancers and choreographers and helps to develop an infrastructure and broaden knowledge of modern dance in Denmark.
With Dansehallerne, Copenhagen’s modern dance scene has finally found a ‘place for everyone’, from trained dancers and professional choreographers to those in training and, last but not least, the audience.
Come feel the rush!
